A special one of a kind necklace, created with an antique medal, from the past. Its flowing Art Nouveau style goddess, holds a laurel wreath, a classic Greek symbol for victory, honour and achievement.
Most likely awarded for excellence in sports, this medal belonged to someone who attended the Alerts Athletic Club, in Sudbury Ontario. Its little imperfections and original inscription on the back offering a small glimpse into a life once lived.
I’ve paired it with captivating green azurite stones, in warm earthy shades of forest greens, blue greens and earthy browns to compliment the copper tones of the medal. A salvaged and repurposed, rose inspired bail adds one more detail from another time.
Once a recognition of someone’s achievement, it now begins another chapter as a piece of wearable history.
