Dated 1837, this alluring, antique Belgian coin has already travelled through almost two centuries before finding its way into my hands.
The softened lettering and deep copper patina and traces of imagery still visible beneath years of handling are not imperfections to be erased, but characteristic of a life already lived. How many hands held it? What did five centimes once buy? Where was it carried, spent or saved?
I have reimagined this timeworn beauty as a special pendant, suspending it from a vintage sterling silver chain with a wonderfully bold oversized sterling clasp and adding aged copper rings to echo the warmth of the original coin.
Time may soften the surface, but age doesn't diminish beauty. Some things endure, strength, courage, and the stories we carry with use through life.
Remove the coin and use the chain on its own or with your own special pendants and charms.
All antique and vintage coins and key are gently cleaned, and sealed with a museum quality wax.
